Sense of Identity with Dublin School Mural

Mural artist Vanessa Power was invited by St. Conleth’s School in Dublin 4 to collaborate with students on a school identity mural. During a one-day workshop, Vanessa worked with the students to brainstorm ideas for the mural. The students sketched the school name in bold block letters and added illustrations representing the school's sports and extracurricular activities within and around the letters. Vanessa then took these drawings back to her studio as inspiration for the final mural design.

After Vanessa sketched the lettering on the wall, the students transferred their illustrations from paper to the mural. Each day, two groups of six students painted the mural over the course of a week. Participating in the mural’s creation encouraged teamwork, responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment, while also allowing the students to hone their creative skills. The mural project not only boosted their confidence but strengthened their connection to the school as they watched their ideas transform into a lasting work of art.
