Creative Mural for Killiney School

St. Joseph of Cluny in Killiney collaborated with mural artist Vanessa Power and their fourth-year students to create a unique school mural. After brainstorming various slogans, the students voted on the inspiring phrase “Creativity takes courage,” perfectly suited to its location outside the art room.

Prior to commencing painting the mural, Vanessa conducted a one-day workshop with the students, sharing her experience as a lettering artist and showcasing her mural work. The students learned to draw block letters and, in groups, developed creative ideas for letter styles and backgrounds. Vanessa then took these ideas to her studio as inspiration for the final mural design.

When Vanessa returned, she sketched the lettering on the wall, and the students eagerly helped tape, paint, and add embellishments, taking pride in their contribution to the mural.
